How to start a blog-I
It’s the beginning of 2019, and you have sworn that you will get that blog out there. The thing is that “that” blog has been a goal for so long that you don’t know where to start. So, let me give you some tips to help you get “that” blog out there.
1.- Perfection does NOT exist.
Let me break it to you, your first pieces are not going to be amazing, unless you are a prodigy, which is possible. But for the rest us simple mortals it takes time to improve our craft. Blogging/writing as any craft requires practice, practice, and practice.
2.- We can’t read your mind.
Maybe you are the next JK Rowling, but if you don’t put out your stuff out there, we will never know it. So don’t let your fears stop you. Remember, I can’t read your mind, and neither can the readers. For us to know how good you are, you must put your writing out there.
3.- Don’t be afraid of criticism
I know, I have been there, the first time I published a post, I burst into tears because I was putting myself out there for the whole world to see, and to judge. I understand you, but believe me, that bitter feeling lasts just mere seconds. And when you get familiar with the “publish” button, there is not coming back. Your life will never be the same.
4.- Commit and be grateful to the readers
Through Blogging/Writing, you connect with people in ways we can barely understand, the people reading your posts behind the screens, spiritually connect with you, do not let them down, do not disappear. Those readers will be loyal to you if you are loyal to them. Stay for the long run. Kindness and gratitude will take you a long way.
5.- Be patient with yourself
We, bloggers/writers, are people, mortals. And some days are good, in those days it’s easy to tap our way away on the keyboard, as it were a piano, everything flows, and we are one with the muses. However, there are dark days in this craft, when we can’t get even a line out there. Be patient, give yourself a day or two, but come back. Always come back. Because nobody can write the way you do. Nobody can’t replace you. There will never be another you.
